Spookier Halloween in Owlville

Happy Hallows Eve Eve!

I had hoped to post my latest version of Halloween in Owlville much sooner in the month, but it just didn't pan out.  But better late than never...so without further ado, let me introduce Skeleton, Grim Reaper, Candy Corn, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, and Frankenstein.  I can't believe the possibilities in that Owl Punch - endless I tell ya, ENDLESS!

If you aren't familiar with last years characters created with the Owl Punch, here's a quick look:

After I posted this card I think it would be safe to say it took on a life of its own.  It is still by far one of my most popular cards; and I'm happy for that simply because its one of my favorites too!  However, after finishing the latest version I think I may have a new card inching into the Number 1 standing.  I purposely strayed away from cute costumes this time around and went for a spookier theme in my characters; care to know the reasoning?  Well, in my far off imaginary world I think the original version is what Owlville must look like from 3:30pm - 7pm when the young Owls are Trick or Treating and the newest version is what Owlville must look like after midnight when the adult Owls come out to celebrate Hollows Eve.  Makes perfect sense, right?

I hope that little insight into my crazy imagination didn't scare you off (but let's be honest - to think up most of the things I post one DOES need an overactive imagination, right?  And almost everything is better with a story line!) LOL

Thinking Pink

Welcome to the start of a brand new week!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in honor of so many lives affected by the disease I thought I would share a card that 'Thinks Pink'.  This card could most definitely be given to someone suffering through the disease or for someone who has lost a loved one.  For the background flowers I used the Marker Layering technique.  The Blushing Bride flowers were given a little shading at the base of each petal with a Blushing Bride marker.

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Secret Garden, Wetlands
Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Watercolor paper
Ink: Black Staz-On, Gumball Green
Markers: Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Pink Pirouette Taffeta ribbon, Blender Pen, White gel pen, Pretty Print embossing folder, Large Oval punch, Stampin Dimensionals, Tombow liquid adhesive

I've been getting quite behind in letting everyone know about the new specials Stampin' Up! has to offer, so I'm hoping tomorrow to dedicate a complete post to catching up on all the new goodies.  And stay tuned for some Halloween shares - remember my Halloween in Owlville post from last year?  Well, I have a whole new set of owls in their "costumes" to share with you!  Boy oh boy do I LOVE my Owl Punch!!

Until my next post...

Floral Layers & Technique Video

Good Day!

Today I'm FINALLY able to share my Marker Layering Technique video!  I've been having issues with my computer software and although I haven't solved all the glitches as of yet I was able to get this one ready to share.  The card above is a great example of what I demonstrate within the video (the blue flowers were colored using the same colors I used in the video).  I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful! All materials I use in the video are listed beneath the video in the description box.

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Secret Garden, Wetlands
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Black Staz-On, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay
Markers: Soft Sky, Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Bermuda Bay, Pink Pirouette, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive
Accessories: Blender Pen, Floral Frame Framelits, Large Oval Punch, Pretty Print Textured Impressions embossing folder, Stampin' Dimensionals

The soft background was created by first stamping the images onto watercolor paper then using markers and a blender pen to shade darker colors on top of the stamped images.  I will try to do a video tutorial for this if anyone is interested in seeing how I did it.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Football Punch Art Birthday

Howdy!

It's been rough going in my household the last week, hence the lack of postings.  Last week when my boys began complaining of sore throats and runny noses I repeatedly chanted to myself, "I will not get sick" - right up to the moment I got sick.  Ugh...

But we pushed through because we had a birthday to celebrate!  Our little boy Sawyer turned the BIG 2 last Thursday; leaving baby hood behind and becoming an official toddler.  We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a football theme based around the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  Here is what the invitation looked like (all the party details were on the back of the invite):

Supplies for the Football Cupcake:

Stamp sets: Delightful Dozen
Cardstock: Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Gumball Green, Tempting Turquoise
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse
Accessories: Chevron Embossing Folder, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Oval Framelits Collection, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Sponges, White Gel Pen, Tombow Liquid Adhesive, Stylus Tool, Paper Snips

Supplies for Football Invitation:

Stamps sets: N/A
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Garden Green, Smoky Slate
Ink: N/A
Punches: 1 1/4" circle, 1/2" circle, Crop-a-Dile (retired)
Accessories: Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Tombow liquid adhesive, paper snips, paper trimmer

Here are a few of the pictures of the party:
Rider Jersey Cake!

Rider fan's have a weird obsession with wearing Watermelon's as helmets so this was a perfect table centerpiece!
Lime Koolaid turned out to be the perfect shade of Rider green!  I printed quick labels on computer paper and taped them to each water bottle.

Recognize these?  I painted plastic Easter eggs that hinge open to look like little footballs.  Small caramel treats were hidden inside.
Mmmmm.....sugar cookie footballs were a hit!
The party crowd ready for some cake :)
The Birthday Boy!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I have 2 videos to share with you over the next week or so, along with some cards that I haven't shared yet so stay tuned!  If you'd like to be kept up to date on my postings make sure you enter your email address under the "Follow by Email" button.  This way all new entries will be automatically sent to your inbox as I post them!
