Spookier Halloween in Owlville

Happy Hallows Eve Eve!

I had hoped to post my latest version of Halloween in Owlville much sooner in the month, but it just didn't pan out.  But better late than never...so without further ado, let me introduce Skeleton, Grim Reaper, Candy Corn, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, and Frankenstein.  I can't believe the possibilities in that Owl Punch - endless I tell ya, ENDLESS!

If you aren't familiar with last years characters created with the Owl Punch, here's a quick look:

After I posted this card I think it would be safe to say it took on a life of its own.  It is still by far one of my most popular cards; and I'm happy for that simply because its one of my favorites too!  However, after finishing the latest version I think I may have a new card inching into the Number 1 standing.  I purposely strayed away from cute costumes this time around and went for a spookier theme in my characters; care to know the reasoning?  Well, in my far off imaginary world I think the original version is what Owlville must look like from 3:30pm - 7pm when the young Owls are Trick or Treating and the newest version is what Owlville must look like after midnight when the adult Owls come out to celebrate Hollows Eve.  Makes perfect sense, right?

I hope that little insight into my crazy imagination didn't scare you off (but let's be honest - to think up most of the things I post one DOES need an overactive imagination, right?  And almost everything is better with a story line!) LOL

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Best of Halloween
Cardstock: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Sweater Weather DSP
Ink: Whisper White Craft, Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Elegant Eggplant, Blushing Bride
Punches: Owl, Cupcake, Pennant, Bitty Butterfly, Small Oval, Large Oval, 1 3/4" Circle
Big Shot: Finishing Touches Edgelits
Accessories: Rhinestones, Brayer, White Gel Pen, Black marker, Cherry Cobbler marker, Sponges, Tombow liquid adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals

So, who wins the prize for best costume this year in Owlville?  Leave a comment and someone will receive a little Halloween Blog Candy (to be announced)!

Have a SPOOKTACULAR day!

your owl creations are absolutely darling. I'm having a tough time deciding on a winner. Kinda leaning toward the monster on top of the pumpkin and the winged dracula with the bow tie. GREAT JOB

Melissa your card made me smile BIG and indeed better late then never, glad you are showing it.
Amazing how you come up with all those ideas.
I think the corn candy-dude is very 'cute' but the winner of the Owlville is for me the Grim Reaper.

Hi Melissa,

Your characters are unique & fun. I love what can be done with a few punches and a very creative imagination! Bride of Frankenstein would be my vote for best costume. She has a gorgeous head of hair and wears all of her bling very well...

How adorable Melissa, you've definitely nailed the adult side of Owlville! What an imagination you have, and talent! Hard to choose, but my vote goes to the Bride of Frankenstein and the Grim Ripper. Thanks for taking the time to create and share with us!

As for my favorite - bride of Frankenstein hands down! She made me giggle!

The Grim Reaper! My middle son asked if he could be this for Halloween one year - but his mispronunciation had us all thinking he said The Grin Keeper!! He gets best costume, hands down!

It has to be the Bride of Frankenstein....never saw one before! You are simply amazing and I hope the blog candy is one of these cards!

I love the Bride of Frankenstein. That hair reminds of Madeline Kahn at the end of the Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, and Peter Boyle as Frankenstein. Both the card and the film are "a hoot"!
