Frosty Meadow Birthday

Hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season!  I've taken a little break from the blog and social media to spend time with family and the boys until they return to school at the end of next week.  I'm literally itching to get back in my card room; I have a stack of new goodies from the Occasions and SAB catalog to play with!  After a week with the boys at home I can without a doubt tell you I need a break from Lego...I beginning to dream about it already LOL.

I have had a chance to play with the new watercolor pencil crayons from the Occasions catalog to make this birthday card for my Dad and let me tell you, THEY ARE FANTASTIC!  They are really smooth and creamy and they blend out like a dream with either a blender pen or an aqua painter.  I need to perfect my technique but for a one time use, I'm in love!

This card ended up being quite simple and pretty, even though it didn't feel that way in the midst of creating it.  I had one of "those days".  You know the ones?  Where something simple turns into a disaster?  That was this card...I'd just spent an hour tidying up my craft room before sitting down to work on a couple quick projects. I knew I wanted the background to be embossed with Iridescent Ice to give the card some extra pizzazz so I stamped my trees, coated the card in Versamark and sprinkled Iridescent Ice over the wet ink.  Except I didn't use Iridescent Ice...in my haste I grabbed my Dazzling Diamonds...which doesn't stick to Versamark. 😢 I turned on my heat gun and wound up with a glitter explosion - over me and me just cleaned card room.  It was a sad card maker moment...

Supplies:
I'll be back early in the New Year!  I have finished my very first December Daily Project Life album and I can't wait to share it!  I've given myself a few goals to achieve in the upcoming year and I hope to share those as well in an upcoming post.  Until then, have a happy, safe New Years!

Harry Potter Z-Fold Card & Fairy Garden

Hello!

I'm starting to feel the craziness of the season!  We finished up one family Christmas get together over the weekend and have another this weekend so I'm trying to make the days during the week super productive.  Today we've done some baking and crafting and now we're just waiting for my oldest son to get home from school so we can decorate the cookies!

I thought I'd take a one post break away from my Holiday stamping and share my sister's birthday card and gift with you today.  We both really love Harry Potter so I used that as my jump off point to come up with this Z-Fold card.  I cut the silhouette of  Hogwarts freehand from Basic Black card stock and glued it on the front of the Z fold.  All details on the castle were added with a White Chalk marker.  I used the Confetti Stars Border punch along the top edge of the card, thinking at the time that it might look really neat to have a tea light behind the card so the stars would glow.  The owl silhouette is also cut free hand from Basic Black card stock and highlighted with the Chalk marker as well.  The deer is the larger of the two deer from the stamp set In The Meadow.  I stamped the image onto Smoky Slate card stock, cut it out, then flipped the image over to create the silhouette effect.

Supplies:
For her gift I thought I'd try to make a Harry Potter Fairy Garden (with non-living plants, cause let's face it she'd kill 'em LOL).  I didn't have a lot of time to source out pieces for the garden, although I do know they exist.  I made what I could from polymer clay and a few other items I had on hand or were readily available.

The Terracotta pot is actually the bottom water catch pan from another pot but was the perfect depth for a garden like this.  The castle is a fish tank accessory as is the rock around the castle.  The little deer and bottle brush trees are from Michael's.  I made Hedwig and Harry from clay, and the Hogwarts House Banners are free printable's I found online and printed to fit the space.  I love how little they are but still show all the detail.

I hope you've enjoyed this small break from my Holiday posts!  I'll be back in all glittery holiday prettiness in a couple days.  I'm also working on Week #11 of my Holiday Newsletter tutorial.  I can't believe we've almost reached the final week already!  Where does time go??

Foxy Friends Christmas Note Cards

Hello Friends!

I'm slowly checking things off my Holiday to-do list and boy oh boy does it feel good to on top of things this year! I really wanted to give a little hand made goodness to everyone I possibly could this year so I created a stack of these note sized cards to go out to customers, friends, and teachers with a little Thank You note inside.

This Foxy Friends set has become a staple in my stamp collection this Holiday Season; chances are pretty good that if you're receiving a gift from myself or my children this year it will include a tag or card with an animal from this set!  Because the set is Photopolymer (so you can see right through the stamp) it makes it so easy to layer the images together.

  1. To create a card like this cut a note card from Whisper White card stock, finished size measuring 4" x 4".
  2. Find the center of the card front and begin stamping the leaves, flowers, and berries outward from the center in a circular pattern.
  3. Stamp the Reindeer onto another piece of Whisper White card stock and die cut using the largest circle in the Stitched Shape Framelits collection.
  4. Layer onto the center of the note card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp a sentiment of your choice onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Cut out and use the Banner punch to trim the edges.  Adhere into place just below the bottom of the Reindeer.
Supplies:
On a side note, I have begun my very first Hello December (December Daily) using the Project Life Hello December 2016 kit!  I'm on the fence as to whether I should share it here or not...I'm not sure it's something anyone would be interested in seeing.  If I do share it will probably be once a week encompassing the prior weeks layouts.  Let me know if you would be interested in an album walk through and I'll add it to my to-do list. Do you do December Daily albums?  I'd love you to leave a link below - I'm always on the hunt for inspiration!

Have a great day!

Winter Stroll

Hi All!

I hope wherever you're reading this you're toasty warm and cozy; its a -29 degree Celsius windchill here today.  Sometimes I really wonder why I choose to live in this frozen prairie land...I'll be sure to keep our wood stove full today!

As much as I'm not a person that enjoys winter I have to admit that the snow does create a pretty scene when it blankets the outdoors.  I took a little inspiration from one of  Michelle Zindorf's cards to create this little winter scene of a pup in a blanket of snow covered hills.  I have been looking for ways to incorporate the dog image from The Wilderness Awaits set and I think I have finally found it! I love it used as a silhouette; it takes away the hunting feel of the original image and allows it to be used in so many other ways for many occasions.

Supplies:
I hope you have a wonderful day!
