Frosted Window

Hiya!

I'm so excited about today's share - simply because the photo of it turned out so well!!  I always struggle with camera angles when I add a little sparkle to my projects but the lighting must have been just right this morning and it shows off the sparkle! :)

I ran across this technique last week and was itching to try it out for myself.  It's called Frosted Window; and although the technique in itself would lend itself well to a Winter themed card, I just couldn't bring myself to go down that route in July.  Instead, let's all pretend there's misty morning dew covering the window shall we??  Keep reading on below for a quick step by step to re-create this technique for yourself.

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: World of Dreams, Wetlands

Cardstock: Watercolor Paper, Blackberry Bliss, Coastal Cabana

Ink: Pool Party, Pear Pizzaz, Basic Black, Blackberry Bliss

Accessories: Stampin' Spritzer, Versamark, Clear Embossing Powder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Sponges, Heat Tool, Large Oval Punch, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon, Multi-purpose Liquid Glue

Begin with a piece of Watercolor Paper.  Lightly spritz with water using a Stampin' Spritzer.  With sponges and Pool Party and Pear Pizazz ink apply in a circular motion to the sky and grass area.  You do not have to be precise with this step its just to give a little color to the background before stamping the images over top.

Re-mist the paper again and stamp your images.  In this instance I didn't apply much water to the top of the paper so that the image of the birds would stay pretty much intact without bleeding.  The flowers on the other hand I misted quite a bit more so that the ink would bleed giving it a more watercolor effect.  When stamping the flowers keep in mind that you don't have to re-ink your stamp each time; by repeatedly stamping the image without re-inking adds tons of depth to your image.

Once you are satisfied with your image, heat set with the Heat Tool.  Apply Versamark to the entire piece of watercolor paper, cover with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.  Repeat this step again.  The final step is to cover the image with Versamark one last time, cover with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set.  You will be left with this oh so pretty result!

Before I sign off I just wanted to let you know that I'm still experiencing a little difficulty with my email accounts.  After my main account was hacked into a couple of weeks ago I set up a new account to filter my blog and stamping emails from my personal ones (something I should have done AGES ago and just never got around to).  Anyhow, for some mysterious reason the new email account stopped notifying me of any new messages I was receiving.  I didn't figure this out until yesterday and I'm still playing catch up on over a weeks worth of emails!
