Halloween Potions

Hi All!

I have a couple Magical Halloween Potions to share with you today - I had way too much fun whipping these up and even more fun naming them!

They are both actually body scrub recipes you can make yourself at home - I just couldn't resist putting a Halloween spin on them!  What a spooktactular gift for a friend at Halloween and so simple to make - follow along and I'll show you how.

Let's begin with the Witches Wart Smoother first.  This body scrub is a great recipe that I found online that fits perfectly with the season - its actually a Pumpkin Spice Latte Sugar Scrub.  Yummy!!  So suiting for the fall season.

Recipe:
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 Tbsp ground coffee
1-2 Tbsp Pumpkin Pie spice (or a mixture of nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon to your liking)
3/4-1 cup grape seed oil

Begin by adding your brown sugar

Next add the ground coffee.  I think I remember reading somewhere that coffee in scrubs is good for cellulite...worth a try! LOL

Add your spice mixture.  I didn't have any Pumpkin spice on hand so I made my own.  I really love the scent of cinnamon so I added a little more of it and decreased the amount of other spices I used.  Totally your own preference.

Last step - add your grape seed oil.  I whisked mine so help avoid the brown sugar from clumping.  Viola!  Witches Wart Smoother ready to be packaged!

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Bootiful Occasions, MDS 2
Cardstock: Very Vanilla
Ink: Basic Black, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Framelits Labels Collection, Early Espresso Bakers twine, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze markers, sponges, Sticky Strip, hot glue, coffee filter, small jar

Begin by filling your jar(s) with the body scrub.  I used small baby food jars.  In My Digital Studio I created my text and added 'ink splatters' from the stamp option; taking down the opacity so they appeared as almost watermarks.  Print the label onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Using the smallest frame from the Framelits Labels Collection cut out the title.  To antique the label sponge Chocolate Chip ink around the edges.  Using sticky strip, adhere to the front of the jar.

Stamp the witches boot from the Bootiful Occasions set in Basic Black and color in with markers.  Carefully cut out with paper snips and adhere beside the label with sticky strip.

To cover the lid rip a coffee filter to fit the size of the lid.  Sponge lightly all over, concentrating on the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  With a hot glue gun, glue to top of the lid.  Finish by wrapping a piece of Early Espresso baker's twine around the lid a few times, tying with a bow.

Next up, Ogre Dandruff...looks real, doesn't it?  Its actually an oatmeal scrub - you just add a little water when your about to use it to create a paste.  The recipe for this one couldn't be any simpler to make or customize to your own liking.

Recipe:
1 cup oatmeal
20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil.  This go around I used Cranberry Orange - it smells divine!!

Add your essential oil one drop at a time, whisking while you go.  This will prevent clumps and give you a chance to sniff as you go to achieve the desired results.  Now onto the packaging!

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Wicked Cool, MDS 2
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Gumball Green
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Basic Black
Accessories: Linen Thread, Gumball Green satin stitched ribbon, Framelits Labels Collection, 1 1/4" circle punch, sponges, sticky strip, coffee filter, hot glue gun, mason jar

Begin by filling your jar(s) with the body scrub.  In My Digital Studio I created my text and added 'ink splatters' from the stamp option; taking down the opacity so they appeared as almost watermarks.  Print the label onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Wrap a piece of Gumball Green ribbon around the jar, using sticky strip.  Using the smallest frame from the Framelits Labels Collection cut out the title.  To antique the label sponge Chocolate Chip ink around the edges.  With the second to smallest label cut out in Gumball Green.  Adhere the two labels together and using sticky strip, adhere to the front of the jar over the ribbon seam.

To cover the lid rip a coffee filter to fit the size of the lid.  Sponge lightly all over, concentrating on the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  With a hot glue gun, glue to top of the lid.  Stamp the spider web from the Wicked Cool set in Basic Black, punch out with a 1 3/4" circle and glue to the top of the lid.  Wrap linen thread around the lid a few times and tie with a bow.

Hope you give these little treats a try!  I have a couple other "potions" I'm going to attempt...hopefully I can share those with you soon :)

Until next time!
