Ornamental Pine Christmas Card

Good Day!

I was recently asked to create a set of Christmas invitations.  My normal process is to create a couple of samples for choosing purposes; this card came in as the runner up.  I love the simplicity of this Ornamental Pine set! However, even as I say that these six stamps are so very versatile!  I've seen so many beautiful cards created with this set and each one is unique - a definite addition to the "must have" list in my books!

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Ornamental Pines, Endless Wishes
Card Stock: Whisper White
Ink: Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy
Accessories: White Stampin' Chalk Marker, Dazzling Diamonds, 2 Way Glue Pen, Sponges, Post it Note (for masking), 3/16" Corner Punch

The first step in creating a card like this is to remember to always work from the background to the foreground.  Cut a standard size card piece of Whisper White Card stock and round the corners with the corner punch.  Tear a post it note and place near the bottom of the card stock (this will create your first/top snowbank).  Sponge a small amount of Marina Mist just above the post it, then follow with a small amount of Night of Navy, blending well.

Move the post it down, changing the angle slightly so the snowbanks won't look the same.  Follow the same process of sponging, this time with Marina Mist and Lost Lagoon but be sure to NOT sponge all the way to the edge of the first snowbank (you want some white space left).  Move the post it again and create the third snowbank the same way as the second.

Sponge Night of Navy in the upper left corner and blend the color across the top of the card as well as down the left side.  Stamp the pine boughs in Always Artichoke; once in the center then one to both the left and upper right of the central bough.  Stamp three pine cones into the center of the main bough with Early Espresso ink.  Highlight the open areas with a White Chalk marker and as a finishing touch add a small amount of Dazzling Diamonds throughout the bough and pine cones for a little sparkle.  Add a sentiment from the Endless Wishes set to the bottom of the card and your all done!

I hope this quick step by step was helpful!  I'll be back at the end of the week with another post so be sure to check back, or click on the subscribe button to have any updates automatically emailed to you.

Until next time...
