Its a Jungle Out There!

Happy Monday Everyone!

A start to a new week and one where I'm beginning to feel like I might actually get caught up!  This past weekend we celebrated my youngest son's 1st birthday - his actual birthday was 2 weeks ago but with that nasty flu we all managed to catch, we postponed everything until we were feeling better.

In the process of making our household well again I didn't find the time to get Sawyer's birthday card completed in time for his birthday but here it finally is!  I found a tutorial to create this Side-Step card on Splitcoast Stampers.  Its a simple, layered type layout that allows you to put multiple images on one card without it seeming crowded - genius!

Supplies:

Stamp sets: Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired Hostess set)
Cardstock: Pool Party, Early Espresso, Lucky Limenade, Basic Gray, Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP, Neutrals Collection DSP Pack
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Small oval punch, Owl punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Large oval punch, Word Window punch, Little Leaves Sizzlits, Basic Black marker, Tombow liquid adhesive, paper snips

I thought I would share the cake that I made in honor of the birthday boy before I signed off.  Before Sawyer was even born the first stuffed animal I bought for his nursery was a little giraffe; so I thought I'd attempt a giraffe/jungle themed cake.  The little giraffe on top was molded and baked from a salt dough recipe I found on the web then painted with acrylic paints.  I think I'll bubble wrap the little guy up and and put him away as a little first birthday memento for the memory box :)

The birthday boy enjoying a piece of birthday cake - serious business by the looks of it! LOL

Until my next post, take care!  Thanks so much for looking!
