From Land to Sea Card Set Sponging Tutorials

Hello!

It's been a minute (or two) since I've posted sponging/masking tutorials and decided it was due time!

I always struggle with masculine cards and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.  The From Land to Sea set without a doubt has a masculine feel to it but sometimes the images can be hard to incorporate into a card.  I'm huge on making an image fit a "scene" so I came up with these four cards featuring a few of the images from the set.  Each card involves a little stamping, a little masking, and a lot of sponging! They would all work perfect for a masculine card but I think they would really work for any occasion.  Here's a little background on each card...

This card I'm calling "Edge of Night" and not to play favorites but it's my favorite!  I'm really happy with the way the sky turned out...the beautiful mix of when the sunset is just about gone giving way to the dark, star filled night sky.  The sunset is reflecting into the water and the lighthouse is just about in full shadow but the sun is still casting highlights...I think if I had to picture the perfect ocean sunset, this is it!

Supplies:

The idea for this card I've decided to call "Low Tide" was a simple one.  While I've seen this image used numerous times it always features the turtle being used in an under water scene.  Every time I looked at this image I seen it on sand, perhaps coming ashore to lay its eggs.  While perhaps not its intended use, I like that its a different take on using the image.  A little variety adds spice to life, no?

Supplies:

I decided to call this card "Washed Ashore".  While this wheel would look great hanging on a stamped wood wall I pictured it as part of a ship wreck, washed onto the beach and lodged in a sand dune.  A bright moon and high waves make a perfect backdrop for this stormy night at sea.

Supplies:

When I imagine Jelly Fish I imagine them in dark blue "Deep Waters".  I tried to get the colors of the jelly fish as true to life as I could, and I wanted the waters to look deep and murky, but I just couldn't help adding a few pearls around the fish to add the look of bubbles.  We'll call it artistic license ;)

Supplies:

There you have it; my take on the Land to Sea set.  I hope you like them and its given you a few new ways to use this set in your masculine cards.

I've created tutorials for purchase for each of these cards if you're interested in gaining a few tips and tricks to work on your sponging/masking techniques.  Simply click on my TUTORIAL STORE tab at the top of blog and you'll be re-directed to a page where you can purchase all 4 tutorials for a discounted price or each tutorial individually. Once you complete your order an email from Fastwagon will be sent to your inbox which will include links to download your PDF tutorials.

I hope you have a great day!  I'm currently working on this weeks Holiday Newsletter and here's a hint...it's a winter sponging scene I can't wait to share with you!
